About Dr Opat

Dr Opat is a full-time General Practitioner in North London.

He has been a partner for 15 years in an NHS practice in Stamford Hill, Hackney.

He also has many years of experience in both face to face and remote general practice work in both private and NHS Out of Hours GP settings

Additionally he has experience in commissioning, having held roles within the City and Hackney CCG.

Dr Opat is currently the medical director of 2 volunteer ambulance services in London/East Anglia.

Expert Witness

Dr Opat has been providing expert witness services since 2010. He writes approximately 100 medico-legal reports per year.

These are a mixture of personal injury, clinical negligence, and GMC fitness to practise instructions, with a fairly even split of instructions from Claimant and Defendant.

He has written over 2000 reports in the areas of clinical negligence, personal injury and fitness to practise.

Dr Opat is a Certified Expert Witness, as recognised by the Expert Witness Institute (EWI).
To obtain this recognition, Dr Opat has demonstrated proficiency in all aspects of expert witness work, including excellence in report writing, understanding of the Civil Procedure Rules, as well as demonstrating proficiency in courtroom skills and cross examination. 

Dr Opat has made 6 appearances at the Medical Practitioners Tribunal to give oral evidence in the last 2 years

Dr Opat is registered with MedCo to opine on motor vehicle accident cases.

He responds to communication and queries rapidly, and is happy to have an initial discussion regarding any cases via telephone or email free-of charge.
